The Sun Voyager (Icelandic: Sólfar) is a public sculpture by artist Jón Gunnar Árnason, situated along the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland. The sculpture evokes a sense of journeying, exploration and adventure not just in literal geographical terms but in the way that our lives can be considered as journeys. This website is an expression of some aspects of my own journey of life using words and photography - an embrace of this journey that holds many things including awe, wonder, love and joy as well as sadness and loss.

we do not discover the new without leaving the safety and comfort of the familiar

There are always new things to discover and new ways of seeing, in relation to ourselves, others and the earth that we share. With a sense of curiosity, adventure, and courage we may discover new insights and perspectives which may involve venturing into the unknown, to face challenges and risks, to learn from different cultures and experiences, and to grow as human beings. Photography is part of this - the art and science of vision, of seeing with a spirit of openness, humility, and gratitude for life, within, among and all around.
